In a surprising crossover event that breaks usual predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Revealed

According to the authorized statement, "A strange confrontation pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where whispers of banned ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses reverberate through the darkness." The narrative presents a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a clandestine group.

The mission centers on "peculiar experiments and a terrifying adversary" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Familiar Places and Metamorphoses

The preview highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer concludes with a powerful sequence showing a character, presumably the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Additional Content

Players who finish the adventure will obtain an unique katana alongside numerous items concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique implements
• Survey Corps steed

Newest Free Story Update

This update also adds the game's newest free story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also features a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

The series previously included a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
