Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in power within the city.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his own means, entering the secret base, assaulting the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could help the group reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to head to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Questers and Strategists tables.
